Texting In Class?! Stop It!

Normally, I'm in class attentive for spans about ten minutes at a time. I think that it's my personality that keeps me at an active state, but when I'm quarantined in a room, with minimal sound, and forced to watch a frail lady, with every degree, lecture on the fact that children love to run around, I tend to grab my phone and text away. Whether it's texting friends, tweeting on Twitter, updating my status on Facebook, or checking my bank statement, my BlackBerry is occupying my time while I dreadfully sit in class. Well, what if I said that there is a technology that is actually incorporating texting in its instruction?

Wiffiti allows people to relay messages to thousands of locations from jumbotrons to bowling alleys and cafes to colleges. As far as the classroom is concerned, it provides a place where a person can create a "board" with specific address to text to. The students can reply in several ways, rather it is through text, twitter, or go to wiffiti.com to and search for an identifiable tag that the students can find for the board. Some reviews show that text is fastes, twitter not so much. The screens can also be moderated to have appropriate age screens, they may read "R" - restricted or "G" - for general.
The review from the users are phenomenal, with their being close to no complaints. From the many teachers that use this initiative to teach, it's a no brainer and their students love it. I will have to agree, by default.
